DUBAI: The global premier of 3rd generation classical Japanese dancer Hanayagi Juraku’s “Diversity of Japan – MAI” debuted on Jan. 1-3 at the Dubai Expo 2020 to celebrate the new year.

The performance debuted at key areas of the Expo site, including the Japan Pavilion.

“Not limited to dance, Japanese people’s delicate, quiet and graceful expressions of beauty is attracting attention from all over the world. We hope many people will come and experience the beautiful charm of ‘Nihon-buyo,’ which is embedded in Japanese culture,” Juraku said.

Juraku previously participated in a wide range of genres such as NHK Taiga Drama, Takarazuka Revue, OSK and Johnny’s.

The classical dancer not only presided over the “Hanayanagi Juraku Dance,” but he also launched “Goyokai” by five dancers aiming at the stage as a comprehensive art.

In the “Diversity of Japan – MAI,” the curtain opens with a dance by a female dancer. It will be colorful and will take the audience to a mysterious world. The dance will also be delivered with traditional Japanese music such as Nagauta, shamisen and music.

The performance is being broadcasted on the official website
