Adidas plans to open a new store fully equipped with sculptural art pieces, sneaker models on display, and sustainable offerings like their sneaker restoration, and water bottle service to encourage visitors to reuse plastic.
Visitors will officially be invited to tour and explore the 1,000 square meter space on Jan 22, but adiCLUB members will be able to attend an early opening on Jan 21.
Customers can enjoy the outdoor lounger area, overall architecture of the store and admire their environmentally conscious LED lighting.
The new Adidas store will also have a Digital Footwear Wall with 45 customizable sneakers in partnership with visual artist YAR.
The official website states that “YAR is a creative studio based in Tokyo. From art direction and graphic design to films, web design and spacial design, YAR specializes in all aspects of creativity. As well as doing commissioned work, YAR is always working on original works within scope of art, culture and design that have been shown in exhibitions in several countries, such as Tokyo, London and Berlin.”
This isn’t the only collaboration to look forward to, brand Allbirds is planning to work with Adidas to release 100 pairs of sneakers that are also sustainable.
Environmental organization Parley was also involved in the plastic waste repurposing program, and designers Takahiro Hida and Tadahisa OHKURI were also involved in the making of the sculptures, making this new store opening something worth looking forward to.
