
DUBAI: President of the International Shotokan Karate Federation in Lebanon Fadi Aoun received the prestigious Japanese Order of the Rising Sun Silver Rays award by the Japanese Ambassador TAKESHI Okubo on Sept. 1.
At his residence in Baabda, Takeshi expressed his appreciation of his contribution to promote Karate in Lebanon and therefore strengthening relations between the two nations.
The Japanese ambassador also posted the ceremony on Twitter, saying: “Today I handed over the “Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays” to Mr. Fadi Aoun, President of the Association. ISKF Lebanon in recognition of his outstanding contribution to promoting Karate in Lebanon and promoting friendly relations between Japan and Lebanon over many years. I sincerely hope that he will continue to educate the Lebanese youth and enlighten them with inner strength. Congrats!”

Aoun in response stressed the depth of Lebanon and Japan’s relationship and thanked the Japanese government for its support in promoting martial arts in the Arab country.
The two parties agreed to strengthen bilateral relations and also encourage Lebanese people through the difficult times the country is facing.
At the ceremony, President of the Lebanese Japanese Association for Cooperation Farid Boustany, family and friends from the sports community were present.
