Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, celebrated becoming the first airline to link Japan and the Gulf region with non-stop flights two decades ago on Saturday.
The service was introduced in October 2002, and has carried 6.8 million passengers between Dubai and all-Japanese gateways.
In a twitter post celebrating the event, Emirates employees are seen holding a red and white sign that says “#20YearsJapan” in both Japanese and English, in front of an aircraft at Dubai International Airport.

According to the airline, the number of passengers carried in Emirates during the first year of operations was roughly 66,000, which has tremendously increased over the years with the introduction of new serving points.
Emirates prides this achievement as being a result of their commitment to the provision of the Japanese market with “innovative products and tailor-made services.”
