DUBAI: Japanese giant convenience store 7 eleven begins to take a more environmentally friendly approach to reduce its carbon footprint by altering its packaging process.

The amount of carbon footprint produced by humans in this specific time and period of mass production and ultimate capitalism has reached worrying levels that put our planet in danger; therefore, steps towards an eco-friendlier environment should be considered.

A huge step has already been taken by Japan’s 7 eleven convenience store in attempt to immensely reduce co2 emissions by an estimated 40 tons per year.

Through a simple alteration of their methods of packaging products they will be able to reach their desired target.

To start off any coloured containers or packages will be replaced by white or semi-transparent material made from reduced-petroleum based material that are easy to recycle and without any colouring agents that add co2 to the manufacturing process.

7 eleven already began implementing the new concept at 997 stores early this month to test consumers’ reactions and comments towards the change.

The users were indifferent to the change of packaging; however, they asked if the chain would first remove the false bottoms found on many food containers.
