DUBAI: Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony interactive entertainment, announced that the global shortage of Playstation 5 will soon be coming to an end this year.
The console was first released in November 2020 when it faced unexpectedly high demand during the time of the global coronavirus pandemic.
The company faced a production issue as well when a shortage of a semiconductor chip hindered the manufacturing process.
During the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that took place in Las vegas this month, the biggest industry event for technology, Ryan announced that the shortage is officially over saying, “Everyone who wants a PS5 should have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally starting from this point forward.”

Ryan also mentioned that supply improved toward the end of 2022; Sony presumably sold 25 million units in November alone.
Currently sold over 30 million units and potentially releasing a new version of the console, 9 figure sales could be fully attainable.
“We truly appreciate the support and the patience of the PlayStation community as we managed unprecedented demand amid global challenges over the past two years,” Ryan said at CES 2023.
