DUBAI: The embassy of Japan in Qatar along with the Japanese language association in Qatar co-hosted the 14th Japanese speech contest at Qatar university on March 11th.

A total of 15 people, each fit in a different category based on their level and fluency in the language, participated in the contest and demonstrated their abilities and results of their Japanese practice through reading and giving speeches on free topics.

Other than the speech contest, the event also hosted an online talk by Ahmed Al Mohannadi, who is currently studying in Japan at Tokyo Metropolitan University under the Japanese government scholarship.

The event focused on delivering accurate representations on studying in Japan; it had an information desk offered by the delegation of Kyushu University to provide information on what it is like to study in Japan.

Kyushu University was visiting Qatar on an official mission of Japan’s ministry of education, culture, sports, science, and technology’s “study in Japan global network project in Middle East and North Africa” to promote studying abroad in Japan from Qatar.

This event recently returned to Qatar after the COVID-19 pandemic repercussions, and it is also contributed to helping strengthen Japan-Qatar bilateral ties in the educational and cultural sectors.
