DUBAI: Secretary General of the UAE Judo Federation Naser Al Tamimi received on April 13 the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays.
The conferment ceremony was hosted by Akio Isomata, Ambassador of Japan to the UAE at his residence in Abu Dhabi.
The awarding of the decoration was announced by the Government of Japan in November last year, in recognition of Al Tamimi’s significant contributions to the promotion of judo in the UAE.
According to the embassy in the UAE, Al Tamimi made a “tremendous contribution” in promoting the Japanese sport in the UAE for more than 20 years.
“His unwavering passion and tireless efforts have made this sport flourish in this country, and under his guidance the UAE has been sending judo athletes to every Olympic Game since 2008,” the embassy stated.
The sport of judo has advanced bilateral relations between the UAE and Japan.
