CAIRO: The third Japan-Arab Political Dialogue, hosted by Secretary General of Arab League Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Japan’s Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa, and Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry was held on Tuesday in Cairo.
Lasting for approximately two hours, the political dialogue began with Hayashi giving a speech calling for unity to open an international order based on the law.
“I do not need to preach how horrible it would be to live in the world “ruled by force” to my colleagues here”, said Hayashi in his speech.
Hayashi stated that Japan wants to be “partners” with the Arab world, strengthening their economic relationship through business promotion, the development of human resources, and addressing new challenges.
“Japan will work on improving business environment, including establishing legal frameworks and holding business forums in the Arab World,” Hayashi said in his speech.
He also confirmed that the Japanese government is planning the next Japan-Arab Economic Forum, which will take place next year for the first time since 2019.
Furthermore, he emphasized Japan’s support for a two-state solution in Palestine, saying “Without solving the Palestinian question, peace will not come to the region in the true sense.”
Additionally, Hayashi said that Russia must withdraw from Ukraine immediately to restore peace back to Ukraine, stating that Russia’s nuclear threat is unacceptable.
When discussing releasing the treated water stored at Fukushima, he explained that it is being conducted in accordance with international standards and practices.
