TOKYO: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty paid a courtesy call to Japanese Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio on Friday and handed over a letter from President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.

Prime Minister Kishida stated that Egypt plays an important role concerning peace and stability, both in the Middle East and Africa. He added that Egypt has been a highly important partner for Japan.

Kishida said that Japan is paying close attention to the current situation in the Middle East and supports the efforts made by Egypt regarding the situation in Gaza. The two sides agreed to continue close coordination on such matters. Kishida also congratulated Abdelatty on joining the Cabinet.

Abedelatty, who is visiting Japan to attend the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Ministerial Meeting, expressed his hope that the two countries will further develop bilateral relations.

Both sides agreed to coordinate further cooperation in Africa.
