Japan’s HAYASHI meets with Egyptian president

DUBAI: Japanese foreign minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa met Egyptian president Abdul Fattah El-Sisi as part of his visit to Egypt on Sept 6.

HAYASHI stated that he is pleased about the high-level visits and exchanges happening between Japan and Egypt as a result of KISHIDA Fumio’s visit to Egypt in April.

In regards to strengthening the bilateral relations, HAYASHI proposed deepening of cooperation by explaining the launch of a feasibility study to provide a vessel to ensure the safety of navigation in the Suez Canal, which will be conductive to the promotion of the “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP).

El-Sisi stated his willingness to further strengthen relations as strategic partners.

HAYASHI also expressed his gratitude for the close coordination for the project of the Grand Egyptian Museum, the spreading of Japanese style education under the Egypt-Japan Education Partnership, which was signed with former PM ABE Shinzo.

El-Sisi expressed his gratitude for Japan’s continuing support to Egypt as well as his expectations and enthusiasm for further investments by Japanese companies in Egypt.

They also discussed the situation in Sudan and the recent developments in Palestine and concurred to strengthen operations and work together in those cases.
