TOKYO: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud told Japanese Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio on Saturday that Saudi Arabia is looking to respond to global oil demand and indicated that this may include an increase in its oil production capacity, according to a statement from Japan’s Foreign Ministry.

The two leaders met in India on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.

Prime Minister Kishida reiterated his gratitude for the warm hospitality he received during his visit to Saudi Arabia in July and expressed his hope of speeding up the cooperation between the two countries they had discussed and agreed upon, including the clean energy “Lighthouse Initiative”. To support this initiative, Japan’s Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa recently visited the Kingdom.

Kishida added that he hopes Saudi Arabia will continue to play a leading role in the stabilization of the international crude oil market.

Crown Prince Mohammed stated that he was pleased with the fruitful exchange of views they had had during Prime Minister Kishida’s visit to Saudi Arabia and that he would like to strengthen cooperation in various areas between the two countries.
