TOKYO: Japanese Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio sent a message Tuesday to express sympathy over a massive flood that struck Libya, leaving many killed and missing.

“I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives, and my sympathies are with their bereaved families,” Kishida said in a message sent to Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, the prime minister of Libya’s Government of National Unity, one of the two rival governments in the North African country.

“I sincerely pray for the quick recovery of those who are affected as well as the prompt reconstruction of the affected areas,” he said, adding that Tokyo is ready to consider necessary assistance.
