TOKYO: Japan has agreed to extend Emergency Grant Aid in the amount of $2 million for displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh in Armenia and Azerbaijan.

More than 100,000 persons have been displaced due to Azerbaijan’s military activities on September 19. In view of this, the Government of Japan says it will implement Emergency Grant Aid of $2 million through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

The aid will be allocated evenly between the ICRC and UNHCR and will be for non-food items, health, protection, and water.

Japan says it will work in close coordination with the various international organizations to continue providing support to such displaced persons.
