Japan’s Ambassador to Lebanon MAGOSHI Masayuki attended a ceremony on Oct. 19 to mark the successful rehabilitation of Lebanon’s Al Mahaba School in the city of Zahle.

The recovery of the school was supported under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Program through a local NGO, Rashet Kheir.

The school was founded in 1963 and supported by the local NGO since 2020. Al Mahaba School suffered from a lack of basic infrastructure, forcing its students to learn in unsafe conditions.

To address these challenges, Japan supported the rehabilitation of the school through Rashet Kheir, which has significantly improved the educational environment and directly impacted the lives of more than 500 vulnerable students.

Ambassador MAGOSHI said in a speech that this initiative was important to improve the educational environment for vulnerable children.

He added that Japan was committed to strengthening Lebanon’s education sector in order to guarantee every child’s right to access to quality education.

Rashet Kheir’s President and Founder Ilda Nahas expressed her gratitude for Japan’s support for the project, highlighting its crucial role in helping vulnerable students by creating a safe and conducive learning environment, and praised the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders in maintaining quality educational services.
