
TOKYO: The Soka Gakkai Council on Peace Issues put out a statement on the situation in the Middle East on Thursday, adding support to appeals by the international community for the protection of civilians based on international humanitarian law, and a humanitarian ceasefire to enable the provision of vitally needed assistance to the Palestinians in Gaza. .
On October 25, Soka Gakkai President HARADA Minoru met with UNHCR Japan Representative ITO Ayaki to present a donation in support of those displaced by last month’s flooding in Libya. They discussed possible future humanitarian assistance to Palestinians affected by the current conflict and the worsening situation of refugees and displaced people worldwide.
Soka Gakkai International has also been active in the Campaign to Stop Killer Robots, advocating for a legally binding instrument banning autonomous weapons systems, and collaborating on the creation of tools to communicate the dangers they pose.
