Beijing: Natsuo Yamaguchi, leader of Komeito in Japan’s ruling coalition, and China’s top diplomat Wang Yi agreed Thursday to promote dialogue at various levels between their countries.

Meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Yamaguchi and Wang discussed building a constructive and stable bilateral relationship as this year marks the 45th anniversary of the Japan-China peace and friendship treaty.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Yamaguchi revealed that he urged the Chinese side to lift its ban on imports of Japanese fishery products, which was imposed in response to Japan’s release of tritium-containing treated water into the sea from the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant.

Wang, China’s foreign minister and a member of the political bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, mentioned that it is possible for the two sides to find a common future path from a scientific perspective.

Yamaguchi is on a two-day visit to China from Wednesday. He also met with Cai Qi, the fifth-ranking official of the Chinese Communist Party.
