TOKYO: Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Ghazi Binzagr, attended Tokai University’s Graduation Ceremony on Monday at its Shonan Campus in Hiratsuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
Six Saudi Arabian graduates received graduation certificates in various majors, including Japanese Literature, Chemical Engineering, and Human Development Environment and Resources. Three received bachelor’s degrees, two received master’s degrees, and one received a Doctorate.
The Ambassador was accompanied by Othman Almazyad, a Saudi Arabian Junior Associate Professor at the School of Political Science and Economics, Department of Business Administration to mark the occasion of his first graduating class in Business Administration at Tokai University.
Before the ceremony, the Ambassador met with the Tokai University Vice President, Dr. HOSODA Eiji, and they discussed cooperation on higher-level studies.
At the opening ceremony, B. League player KAWAMURA Yuki’s video message aired before the university deans handed out the graduation certificates.
The Ambassador told Arab News Japan that it was a privilege to be at the highly regarded Tokai University and for the university to have a Saudi professor there. He said it was the kind of exchange that could build and strengthen the ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Japan.
“It is through these exchanges of academics and culture that our ties become stronger and more meaningful, and they propel us towards a future that will only strengthen our partnerships and deepen our cultural and socio-economic ties,” Ambassador Binzagr said
The university said many students graduating in March this year had their entrance ceremony canceled due to the pandemic years ago. The resultant restrictions and remote learning also prevented them from leading a normal student life, so the university successfully compensated for this loss by making this year’s graduation ceremony a special and memorable occasion.
