TOKYO: The government of Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio has welcomed the formation of a new Palestinian government on Sunday, with Mahmoud Abbas as its president.

A statement issued by Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA Yoko said, “The Government of Japan welcomes the new Palestinian government formed under Dr. Mahmoud Abbas, President of Palestine, on March 31.”

“The Government of Japan expects that reform agenda in various fields will be translated into action by the new government under Dr. Muhammad Mustafa, Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.”
