TOKYO: In the wake of Iran’s attacks on Israel on Sunday, Japan’s Foreign Ministry on Monday raised travel warnings to all of Iran, including Tehran, to level 3, which advises the Japanese to cancel travel plans to that country regardless of the reason for travel.
“Given the escalating conflict and the potential for further intensification, there is a significant risk of unforeseen situations in Iran in the foreseeable future. This poses a clear danger,” the Ministry’s statement warned. “As a result, the danger level for all of Iran has been raised to level 3, strongly advising against travel to the country.”
The border area with Pakistan remained at Level 4, along with the border area with Iraq in Kermanshah and Eelam provinces. Level 4 means Japanese travelers are strongly advised to leave the area immediately.
The Ministry kept level 3 for the border areas with Afghanistan.
