TOKYO: The prestigious Tokyo University students joined the worldwide demonstrations in support of Gaza and opposed Israel’s genocide against the Palestinians. Tents of the protesting students were seen in Komaba Campus on Sunday with banners saying, “Don’t turn your back on Gaza.”

So far, there have been protests at five universities in Japan who joined #GazaSolidarityEncampment. They are the University of Tokyo, the University of Sofia, Tama Art University, Christian International University, and Hiroshima University.

One of the students in the camp told Arab News Japan that they belong to the “Students in Solidarity with Palestine” movement and want to make their stance on Palestine clear.

Meanwhile, labor unions organized a march under the slogan “Labor Day Against War.” About 12,000 people participated and some of them protested in front the Israeli Embassy in Tokyo denouncing the genocide against the Palestinians by Israel.
