Japan to give 2m dollars in aid to landslide-hit Papua New Guinea

TOKYO: The Japanese government will provide 2 million dollars in grant aid to Papua New Guinea, which was struck by a large-scale landslide last week, the Foreign Ministry said Friday.

Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA Yoko told a press conference that Japan will provide support needed by people who were forced to evacuate because of the landslide, including water and sanitary goods for women and children.

The Foreign Ministry has said Japan will provide emergency relief supplies such as tents and blankets to the South Pacific country through the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
