TOKYO: Following the presidential election in Mauritania last month, Japanese Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio issued a congratulatory letter to President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani on his re-election.
Kishida said he had confidence that under the leadership of President Ghazouani, Mauritania would remain the cornerstone of peace and stability in the region and that Mauritania’s social and economic development would progress further.
Kishida also stated that he is pleased to work closely with Mauritania, the current chair of the African Union, including at the TICAD Ministerial Meeting in August this year.
Kishida added that he was looking toward the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) to be held next year and having the opportunity to further develop the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
