
TOKYO: Japanese Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA Yoko sent a congratulatory letter to Seyyed Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday upon taking up his position as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan’s Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday.
In the letter, Kamikawa expressed her hopes for Iran to play a more constructive role in terms of peace and stability in the Middle East and to extend cooperation with the international community.
She also stated that she wants to work together with the new Foreign Minister – a former ambassador to and expert on Japan – to further develop the two countries’ bilateral relationship “based on our historically friendly relations” and to cooperate closely to ease tensions and stabilize the situation in the Middle East.
