TOKYO: With the exception of some border areas, Japan has kept the security level in most parts of Israel and Iran at level 3 but has advised its citizens that Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and the Palestinian territories are at level 4, with the advice that Japanese citizens should avoid traveling to these areas or leave immediately.
“As a rapid deterioration of the situation in the Middle East cannot be ruled out, those who are planning to travel to or stay in Middle Eastern countries or those who are already staying there should take care to ensure their own safety by checking the danger information and latest information issued by each country and region in light of the current situation,” the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo advised.
It suggests that citizens should be prepared for a worsening situation and be ready to evacuate, including putting together emergency goods.
It also advises citizens to inform family, friends, and others, such as workplaces, of contact information if they are traveling in the region and to register with the local embassy or diplomatic representative.
Countries covered by the advisory includes Afghanistan, Yemen, Israel, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, Bahrain, Jordan, and Lebanon.
