DUBAI: “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Pom Klementieff – best known for playing Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – is headed to the UAE to make an appearance at the upcoming Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC), to be held in Abu Dhabi from Feb. 9-11.

The French actress, who began her career in French films, made a Hollywood splash in 2013’s “Oldboy,” Spike Lee’s adaptation of the 2003 film by South Korean director Park Chan-wook.

Klementieff received worldwide recognition when she joined the MCU as Mantis, appearing in the films “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” (2017), “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018), “Avengers: Endgame” (2019) and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”  (2024).

Most recently, Klementieff played the enigmatic assassin Paris in “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.” She will reprise her role in the film’s upcoming sequel in 2025.

Last week, MEFCC announced that British actors and twin brothers James and Oliver Phelps, best known for playing Fred and George Weasley in the “Harry Potter” films, will also be attending the convention.

Klementieff and the Phelps brothers will be part of an all-star celebrity guest line-up of the 2024 edition joining Mexican actor Iñaki Godoy, New Zealand star Temuera Morrison, American voice actors Troy Baker and Frank Welker and Canadian voice actor Peter Cullen.

The line-up will also include comic creators Mark Brooks, Carlo Pagulayan, Stephen Segovia and Steve McNiven.
