TOKYO: Japan is determined to play a role in the recovery and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya said on Thursday.

Speaking to Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa over phone, Iwaya emphasized the importance of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

Mustafa expressed his appreciation for Japan’s strong commitment to Middle East peace.
