
TOKYO: Qatar Ambassador to Japan Jaber Jarallah Al-Marri paid a courtesy call on KOZUKI Ryosuke, State Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry, and discussed bilateral relations and economic matters.
Their talk covered the supply of energy, including LNG, as well as further cooperation in the economic field, the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) said.
The relationship between the two countries was upgraded to a Strategic Partnership during former Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio’s visit to Qatar last year, Kozuki said.
Qatar is one of the main providers of crude oil to Japan. Qatar supplied Japan with about 18 million barrels of crude oil this year through July inclusive, an average of about 3.8% of Japan’s total oil imports, according to METI data.
