Japanese composer Shunsuke Kikuchi passed away at 89 years old on April 24 due to aspiration pneumonia.

Kikuchi is well-known for the music he composed for numerous anime, live-action series and film, most notably the Kamen Rider franchise, Dragon Ball Z, Dr. Slump, Grendizer, Tōshō Daimos and Tiger Mask.

The Japanese composer also produced the theme song for Doraemon, which ran for 26 years.

His first professional debut was as a soundtrack composer in the 1961 film Hachininme no Teki.

Throughout his life, Kikuchi also received many awards, one of which was the award for Best Music in the 6th Japan Academy Prize ceremony in 1983, and the lifetime achievement award in the 57th Japan Record Awards in 2015.
