Japan ambassador congratulates UAE on 53rd national day

DUBAI: Japan’s newly appointed Ambassador to the UAE OKANIWA Ken congratulated the Gulf country on its 53rd national day on Dec. 2.

In a video message, the Ambassador said that this national day “highlights the vision, resolve and unity that have shaped the UAE into a symbol of progress and prosperity.”

He added that it also an opportunity for Japan and the UAE to celebrate their “longstanding friendship.”

“Our nations share ideals such as respect for cultural heritage, dedication to advancement and commitment to sustainable development,” Okaniwa said.

The similar ideals have served as a basis for collaboration and partnership is fields like trade, technology and cultural exchange, he said.

Ambassador Okaniwa started his new role last month and was previously posted in Kenya. This role marks his first post in the Middle East region.

In 2022, the UAE and Japan celebrated their 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, in which events were hosted all year round in honor of the occasion.
