TOKYO: North Korea has criticized Western governments for “distorting and slandering” the nature of its relationship with Russia.

The spokesperson of North Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs lashed out at the ‘hostile acts of the United States and its subordinate forces,’ specifically pointing to their political provocations and violations of a sovereign nation’s autonomy, which North Korea sees as a serious threat to international peace and security.’

The North blamed a joint statement by the United States, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the European Union and the G7 countries for “frantically trying to create an atmosphere of international sanctions and pressure against North Korea.”

The North Korean Foreign Ministry issued a ‘grave warning,’ expressing deep concern and protest ‘the provocative and reckless actions of the United States and its followers.’ These actions, it claims, have turned into ‘a gang of thugs that arbitrarily trample on the recognized principles of international law, posing a serious threat to international peace and security.’

The spokesman underscored that North Korea has taken a defensive stance, blaming the West’s ‘destructive, hegemonic and adventurist military course’ for prolonging the war in Ukraine. He also pointed fingers at ‘the reflexive insanity of hostile forces toward North Korea-Russia relations,’ which North Korea claims are helping maintain the balance of power and protecting world peace and security.

‘As long as the United States turns a blind eye to the changed reality and clings to an anachronistic scenario, it will only repeat failures in dealing with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,’ the spokesperson said, while sharply criticizing the US allies for their ‘blind subservience to the United States.’
