TOKYO: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has expressed serious concern about the “provocations of the United States and its allies.”
The head of the Foreign Policy Office of North Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday accused the United States of “adding new destabilizing factors to the extremely sharpened tensions in the Korean Peninsula region.”
The statement added that America’s actions strengthened North Korea’s stance on exercising its right of self-defense.
It said US Air Force reconnaissance aircraft had flown over the Korean Peninsula on multiple occasions and a B-1B strategic bomber had overflown areas near the Korean Peninsula.
“The political and military provocations of the United States are a direct root cause that is provoking the danger of armed conflict and destroys regional stability,” the official stated.
He added that it was essential to respond to such “military threats” by “having a more overwhelming war deterrent to maintain the balance of power on the Korean Peninsula and ensure the security of the region.”
