DUBAI: Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai’s Secretary-General Hiroyuki Ishige said Dubai’s Expo 2020 will “play a significant role in the success” of the upcoming event in Japan.

Through the “expertise gained and the outstanding organisation that captivated the world,” Ishige said that many “valuable lessons” were learned from the UAE expo.

He also expressed appreciation for the participation of the UAE and Saudi Arabia, host of the Expo 2030, in Expo 2025 Osaka.

According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Ishige said the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka will be among the “standout pavilions, reflecting the country’s progress and its global recognition in such international exhibitions.”

The Secretary-General said Expo 2025 Osaka will feature the world’s largest wooden structure – the Grand Ring – with a perimeter of two kilometres encircling the pavilions.

Its rooftop will serve as a walkway, offering panoramic views of Osaka city and its bay.

158 countries and nine international organizations have confirmed their participation so far and construction work is progressing steadily.

More than 50,000 volunteers have signed up to help organise the event, WAM reported.

Expo 2025 Osaka is set to start on April 13 to Oct. 13 on the artificial island of Yumeshima under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.”
