TOKYO: Japan’s weather bureau said on Monday the conditions similar to the La Nina phenomenon are starting to weaken and that it estimates a 60% chance of normal weather patterns continuing towards the Northern Hemisphere summer.

A La Nina weather event is characterised by unusually cold ocean temperatures in the equatorial Pacific Ocean region and is linked to floods and drought.
