
TOKYO: An earthquake shook the Tokyo region slightly on Sunday, but no damage was reported, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
The epicenter of the earthquake was 80 km beneath downtown Tokyo and shaking was felt in the surrounding prefectures.
The quake registered 4.1 on the Richter Scale and had a maximum intensity of 2. There was no danger of a tsunami.
Tokyo is celebrating the annual Golden Week holidays and was crowded with people on a sunny day. Transportation was not affected.
Another M3.7 earthquake occurred at 4:16 PM, with its epicenter located 60 km off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture.
The agency confirmed there is no need to worry about a tsunami resulting from this earthquake.
