TOKYO: The decision by the United States not to include North Korea on its list of countries whose citizens are banned entry into US could reflect a desire for the US to reopen a dialogue between the two countries, suggested North Korean international affairs critic Kim Myung-cheol.

Kim said that North Koreans “have no interest in the possibility of admission to the United States.”  According to a report by the North Korean information department.

From Monday, citizens from 19 countries were restricted or barred from entry into the United States. Although Haiti, Iran and Yemen were among those barred from the US, North Korea was not mentioned.

Kim, however, according to the same report published by the North Korean information department, said that the exclusion order is another of America’s “self-righteous, exclusive, racist and arrogant acts.”

He added that Americans are not welcome in North Korea which was a “legitimate exercise of sovereign rights” to protect the people and country from American hostility.

He continued by saying that North Korea would deal with the United States according to their own judgment and not based on wishful thinking or subjective interpretation from others.
