TOKYO: FUJII Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call from Ahmed S.A. Alnaas, Libya’s Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, on Wednesday and welcomed the upturn in relations between the two countries.
Fujii noted that bilateral relations had made good progress since the reopening of the Japanese Embassy in Libya in January last year, and referenced the high-level visits between the two countries, including two visits to Japan by Abdullah Allafi, Vice President of Libya’s Presidential Council.
Charge d’Affaires Alnaas explained about the security situation in Libya and expressed the hope that ties between Japan and Libya would strengthen across a broad range of areas, including through opportunities such as TICAD 9.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the two sides agreed to promote further collaborative efforts to enhance the Japan-Libya relationship.
