Japan exceeded 10,000 cases on Monday despite being under a state of emergency, which was declared on April 7.

Restaurant worker Shinma Yano said that the food industry is not getting as many as customers due to the deadly virus.

“I can tell people are not going out. This is the impact I am seeing from the state of emergency,” he added.

Cooking teacher Yuka Matsuda said the coronavirus outbreak is affecting the economy negatively.

“The government can no longer protect things that it is supposed to protect,” Matsuda said.

The number of coronavirus cases currently stands at 11,512 with 281 deaths as of April 22.
