Earthquake with an intensity of 4.8 hits northeastern Kanto

At around 9:49 am on the Sunday, an earthquake with the epicenter in the southern part of Ibaraki prefecture, and a seismic intensity of 4 at the Japanese Shindo scale of 7 degrees, hit Ibaraki and Tochigi prefectures, north of Tokyo. 

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the epicenter is about 70 kilometers deep. The magnitude of the earthquake is estimated to be 4.8 Shindo.

No tsunami warning has been issued.

The seismic intensity was  at  4  in Mito City, Kanuma City, Tochigi Prefecture, Itakura Town, Gunma Prefecture, Kasukabe City, Saitama Prefecture, Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture.

Seismic Intensity of 3 was observed in  Asama City, Utsunomiya City, Chiyoda Town, Gunma Prefecture, Saitama City, Chiba City and other places in the area.

Residents in Tokyo felt the shake that is enough to wake sleeping people, eye witnesses told Arab News Japan.
