TOKYO: Thirty-five new coronavirus infection cases were confirmed in Japan on Wednesday, bringing the country's total to 17,418.
The death toll from the virus rose by seven to 883.
In Tokyo, the number of cases grew by 11 to 5,180.
Eight new confirmed cases were reported in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, southwestern Japan.
In the city of Osaka, western Japan, a man in his 80s tested positive for the virus for the third time.
