TOKYO: Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said Sunday he expects to see no major change in the framework of role-sharing between Japan and the United States after Japan's planned review of its security strategy this summer.
"The basic relationship and role-sharing between Japan and the United States will not change," Motegi said on a television program.
As the security environment surrounding Japan has changed substantially, the Japanese government needs to consider seriously the best forms of its defense capability and the Japan-US alliance, Motegi also said.
He was apparently referring to North Korea's missile threats and other problems.
