Prince Turki bin Mohamed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet of Saudi Arabia, held a bilateral meeting with Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Monday, Oct. 21, Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said.
During the meeting, the two leaders agreed to foster bilateral cooperation through the “Japan – Saudi Arabia Vision 2030” and the G20 process, the MOFA statement said.
Concerning the attacks on the oil facilities in Saudi Arabia on September 14th, Prime Minister Abe stated that Japan stands with the government and people of Saudi Arabia and strongly denounced the attacks.
Both sides also agreed on closely cooperating for easing tensions and stabilizing the situation in the Middle East. “Japan stands with the government and people of Saudi Arabia,” Prime Minister Abe said.
“Both sides also discussed the situation in North Korea. Prime Minister Abe requested understanding and cooperation towards the early resolution of the abductions issue. In response, State Minister Turki expressed his support for Japan’s position,” said the statement.
The Saudi minister also said that it was a great honor for him to attend the enthronement ceremony of the Emperor and was grateful for the welcome he received.
The meeting was attended by Nayef Al-Fahadi, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Japan, Hamad Al-Sulyem, Director General, Head of State Minister's Office, and others on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s side.
Okada Naoki, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, and others were present on the Japanese side.
