Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary SUGA Yoshihide expressed on Sunday the government’s eagerness to rectify the over-concentration of people and industry in Tokyo by making good use of teleworking amid the coronavirus epidemic.
“The coronavirus crisis shed light on the challenge of promoting decentralization,” Suga said on a television program.
Workers have demonstrated that they can work away from office seven or eight days a month, the top government spokesman noted.
“We’re given the best opportunity” to step up efforts to achieve a decentralized society, Suga said.
