Japan’s Deputy Foreign Minister confirms support for Libya

TOKYO: Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Eichiro Washio stressed Thursday that achieving stability in Libya is necessary and important for the stability of the Middle East and African region.

During a meeting at the Ministry in Tokyo with Dr. Ahmed Naili, Libyan Chargé d’Affaires of the Libyan embassy to Japan, Washio pledged Japan’s continued support for the political process in Libya under the leadership and supervision of the United Nations.

The two sides expressed their countries’ determination to boost and develop their bilateral relations.

The Japanese deputy foreign minister also touched on the aid provided by Japan through international organizations within the framework of measures to combat the corona pandemic.

For his part, Naili expressed appreciation for the Japanese aid that is aimed at combating the corona pandemic, and applauded Japan’s support for human resources’ development and capacity building in Libya.

In the meeting, Naili briefed the deputy minister on the current situation in Libya and the situation the country is going through at this stage.
