TOKYO: About 300 Muslim residents in Japan, most of which are people from Pakistan, protested on Friday evening in front of the French Embassy in Tokyo, against what they described as the acts of the French government regarding recent events related to drawings that mock Prophet Mohamed.
The demonstrators carried banners condemning the French President Macron and calling for a boycott of French products. They shouted accusing France of insulting Islam and its Prophet.
The demonstrators also called on to respect the mutual understanding between cultures and nations, and resecting values and religions of other people. They denounced insulting Islam under the pretext of freedom of expression.
Japanese police members gathered in large numbers around the embassy to to maintain security, and to prevent riots.
