TOKYO: The Japanese government on Nov. 26 strongly denounced the Yemeni Houthi terror attack against a crude oil facility in the north of Jeddah which caused fire in a fuel tank, and pledged to cooperate in maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The condemnation was expressed in an official statement issued by the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo, stating that the terror attack was carried on Nov. 23 and threatened regional stability and peace.

“Peace and stability in the Middle East is important matter for international society. Stable oil supply from the Middle East region is indispensable for the prosperity of the global economy including Japan,” it said.

The Government of Japan “commends efforts of Saudi Arabia for ensuring sustainable oil supply” and “remains committed to continuously making efforts, in cooperation with countries concerned, so as to maintain and reinforce peace and stability in the Middle East,” the statement said.
