Aboard Government Aircraft, Nov. 3

The Japanese government airplane carrying Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had a minor fire in the kitchen section during its flight to Thailand on Sunday afternoon.

A steam oven in the kitchen near the tail of the aircraft caught fire. The fire was put out quickly, and nobody was injured. The plane will fly to Thailand as scheduled.

The plane left Tokyo International Airport at Haneda early Sunday afternoon for Thailand, where Abe is set to attend meetings related to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Aboard the plane were Abe and other government officials as well as a media corps traveling with them. The aircraft entered into service in April.
