TOKYO: Japan’s Prime Minister SUGA Yoshihide expressed his resolve to further strengthen Japan-Israel relations while deepening the relationship of trust with Prime Minister of the State of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu.

During a telephone conversation between the two on Wednesday Netanyahu expressed his congratulations on the inauguration of Suga and his expectations for the further development of bilateral relations, especially referring to the economic relations that have developed dramatically in recent years, the foreign ministry in Tokyo said.

The two prime ministers agreed to strengthen bilateral relations at all levels and cooperate on various issues of the international community, such as dealing with North Korea, including the abduction issue by North Korea, according to the ministry.

In their exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East, Suga stated that he expects Netanyahu to respond wisely and flexibly to peace in the Middle East, referring to Japan’s position in support of “two-state solution,” and Japan, including the “Corridor of Peace and Prosperity.” Through his own efforts, he expressed his intention to continue making efforts to build trust between the parties.
