TOKYO: The United Arab Emirates and Lebanon have abolished the import restrictions they have been imposing on Japanese food products since 2011 as a result of Fukushima Nuclear Power Station accident, the foreign ministry said Dec. 15.
Both countries had taken regulatory measures requiring a radioactive material inspection certificate for all or some of the exports of foods and feeds produced in Fukushima or all Japanese prefectures.
It is confirmed that both measures were lifted last week, the ministry said.
“The Government of Japan welcomes these decisions taken by both the Governments of UAE and Lebanon,” a statement said.
