TOKYO: Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo agreed Thursday that their countries will continue to work together to address global and regional issues based on their strong alliance.

During their talks over the phone, the two ministers agreed that cooperation among Japan, the United States, Australia and India will remain important for a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

Motegi and Pompeo also discussed the coronavirus situation in Japan and the United States.
